That Johnny Gunter place is magical. And to visualize you there with your grandsons in hand and mom in memory is lovely. Thanks for sharing those moments and feelings and words, Tom.
Thank you for this beautiful comment, Rick! The Johnny Gunter house is a "thin" place where the physical and metaphysical intertwine. And thank you for all you do and write.
You are giving your grandkids such a gift. I am glad they make the trip with you, drink hot chocolate, write in a journal and travel in their sleep… ! Lovely piece to read today, Tom. Thank you.
As I read your soul touching words, I was right there with you and your 2 grandsons, feeling the mist, seeing the beauty along the trail, drinking nature's gift of pure water, and admiring your mother's love of life, as if I once knew her. This was a beautiful beginning to my day, me being a person who like you, finds certain aspects of life distasteful. May we all find time to experience similar, beautiful, soul touching memories and moments, despite what this crazy world drops upon us.
Thank you for this lovely comment, Diane! I've been thinking on this piece for quite some time and some of the content begs for expansion. In the meantime, may we all find moments of wisdom and some measure of peace.
Once again you bring your Mom to light, to life, sharing her wisdom. Once again I am thankful you have these grandsons to absorb the mist of that wisdom. Many thanks!
You set the stage so well with the dreamy mist and the unfolding story of gentle time with your grandsons and the log leading to your mother saving the Calypso orchids and so appreciate your words on bullies......the essay has that Johnny Gunter magic. Thank you.

Ah, you're welcome. Thank you for your attentive eyes and heart. I needed to write. Let's have a think and drink soon.
